The "back office" is a term usually given to describe the hidden administration area of a web site, where web site data is linked into a company's own databases of office systems. For example, a web
site could directly access production data to enable a customer to log on to the web site to see progress of a job or contract. Or a web site sales team administration system could be linked into a
corporate diary system and local CRM database to enable remote administration of a remote team.
